A Celebration of Josephine Baker Sunday, June 7 at 11 am PST on zoom and Facebook live at Kayleen Asbo
"To realise our dreams we must decide to wake up. Surely the day will come when color means nothing more than the skin tone, when religion is seen uniquely as a way to speak one's soul; when birth places have the weight of a throw of the dice and all men are born free, when understanding breeds love and brotherhood." -Josephine Baker
Josephine Baker: A Fundraiser for the NAACP
Josephine Baker, is one of the most extraordinary heroines of all time for her resilience, courage and generosity. Rising from a childhood beset by poverty, abuse and racism, she become a beloved Parisian singer, actress and comedienne who was the highest paid entertainer in Europe. Known almost exclusively now in America for her exotic dancing, she was a hero of World War II decorated by Charles de Gaulle, a revered leader of the Civil Rights Movement and a humanitarian whose vision of universal harmony is a lasting legacy of hope.
Join us in celebration of this icon of hope in a fundraiser for the NAACP. This event will be livestreamed on my facebook page, Kayleen Asbo on Sunday, June 7 at 11 am PST.
