Mary Magdalene and the Movies:
A Cinema and Psyche Salon with Terry Ebinger and Kayleen Asbo

Now available for streaming!

The Easter story  is a subject that has been told on film in every generation. But how faithful to the Bible are these movies? What parts of the story "make the cut" and what gets left out?  And in particular, how has Mary Magdalene  been portrayed: as the loyal and courageous disciple who was revered in early Christianity for her spiritual leadership as the "Apostle to the Apostle" or as a penitent prostitute or adulteress that is not Biblical at all?

Mythologist and cultural historian Kayleen Asbo PH.D is joined by Jungian therapist and film scholar Terry Ebinger, MS for a passionate and lively discussion of  contemporary films from Biblical, archetypal and feminist perspectives,

We reference and critique themes in :

Netflix's  The Gospel According to John (Available to stream through Netflix through March 31)
Martin Scorcese's The Last Temptation of Christ
Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ
Garth Davis's Mary Magdalene
Andrew Lloyd Weber's Jesus Christ Superstar
