Mystical Spain: The Myths, Music, Art and Spirituality of Montserrat

A three day virtual pilgrimage along the camino to the Abbey de la Monterrat, renowned site of one of the most famous Black Madonnas in music, source of inspiration for centuries of music and art, from the Llibre Vermell to Antoni Gaudi 

You can participate either live or by later download- all registrants will receive a link for video streaming,  as well as class notes and an invitation to a private sharing group

Each day will open with a contemplative circle of music , poetry and meditation, followed by lectures on the incredibly rich and fascinating history of Montserrat, a place that has transformed the lives and imaginations of  centuries of pilgrims. Each day will also include a creative practice: singing of Medieval pilgrim songs with Catherine Braslavsky, Visio Divine (art meditation) with Sue Ellen Parkinson. Small group sharing circles will enable you to deepen your experience and connection with fellow pilgrims from around the world.

10:50 Kayleen Asbo on the history of pilgrimage to Montserrat and the Camino and the making of the Llibre Vermell (The Red Book)  and Cantigas de Santa Maria, two  astonishing  Medieval collections of pilgrimage music that fuse Gregorian Chants with Gypsy influences

12:00 Catherine Braslavksy leads us in learning pilgrim songs from Llibre Vermell

This pilgrimage is available on a sliding scale and includes both live access to our sessions and a video recording to stream (link good for 30 days) plus notes and access to special groups for sharing.
